Live in Pictures: Arrows of Love, Phobophobes, DOLLS + ACM at Electrowerkz, Islington

We may be coming to the end of the year but there’s been no slacking off on the London gig circuit of late with a succession of outstanding line-ups with Black Lips & Future of the Left at the Fluffer Pit Party, an excellent selection at the Roadkill All-dayer and Saint Agnes & The Sly Persuaders at Rock Against Violence, but even amongst such a strong field, tonight’s bill stood out.  Joyzine’s Rupert Hitchcox was there to snap the action.

First up, beneath several inches of make-up and a fine glitter-beard were ACM, who describe their sound as queer super-galactic opera-punk.

Next up were London duo DOLLS, whose recent single ‘Armchair Psychiatrist’ counts amongst our favourites of the year.

Main support act Phobophobes are amongst a group of grimy South London bands making waves by crumpling the rock and roll textbook right now.

Headliners Arrows of Love can always be counted on to bring the chaos.  One of our favourite live acts right now, their second album Product: Your Soundtrack To The Impending Societal Collapse is one of 2017’s angriest and most vital records.
