Video Premiere: The Fades – So Much Better

One of only a handful of bands left standing from the early days of Joyzine, there are few that we’ve dedicated more column inches to over the years than South-West London punks The Fades. But it’s not simply a question of longevity; since 2004’s debut release ‘You Say’, they’ve been turning out high octane garage rock of the highest calibre, with perhaps the high point being their 2012 LP Ragnarok, which receives a deluxe vinyl re-release later this week (the last few copies of which are available to pre-order on Bandcamp).

The expanded edition includes two new tracks, ‘So Much Better’ and ‘The Comedian’, which mark the first new material we’ve heard from the Richmond four-piece since 2016’s The Blackdrop EP. We’re delighted to mark their return with the premiere of the swaggering indie punk stomper ‘So Much Better’, which features the band performing in front of a montage of photos from over a decade and a half’s worth of gigs, including a few originally taken for these very pages.
