Single Review: LUMER – Another Day At The Zoo

Yorkshire’s riotous post-punks, LUMER have unveiled their anticipated debut Disappearing Act EP – released digitally at the end of last week.

Comprising of Alex Evans (vocals), William Evans (drums), Benjamin Jackson (guitars) and Benjamin Morrod (bass guitar), LUMER are a post- punk quartet hailing from Hull, Yorkshire. Initially nothing more than a procrastination project whilst studying together during sixth form college, the band have since featured on the cover of HERO Magazine and garnered support from major titles including The Face, Paper Magazine, Interview Magazine, DIY, The Line of Best Fit, Fred Perry: Subculture, Louder Than War, So Young + many more.

‘Another Day At The Zoo’ is the second single from the EP and the final devastating track from this brilliant EP. Channelling post punk, psychobilly, and a delicious noisy aesthetic that they revel in throughout the EP, ‘Another Day At The Zoo’ is a fantastically angry and defiant track. The track creeps it’s way through it’s 3.39 running time and addresses all the current ills of the world touching on everything from to BLM to climate change. It’s noisy and powerful and is deserving of your attention. LUMER are one of my favourite bands at the moment. They should be yours too.

LUMER’s debut Disappearing Act EP is available now as a digital download via Bandcamp.
