SINGLE REVIEW: CARMEN MCLEAN – LOST & FOUND

Lost & Found’ is the third single release from Leeds-based singer-songwriter Carmen Mclean and it’s a miniature gem that sparkles like a drop of water refracting the sun. McLean says that it “creates a cosy landscape of comfort and bliss, exploring themes of sexuality, safety and authenticity, whilst encapsulating the joys of finding companionship and compatibility”.

It’s a drowsy afternoon of a song and the line “I feel her softness, and it’s all around me. We’ve made our home in the sheets alone for the night” is so evocative as ‘Lost & Found’ easily conjures up the sensation of nestling; burrowing into the sheets to cocoon yourself with your love to retain the warmth and keep any ardour from escaping.

The gentle arrangement of drums, guitar and violin doesn’t get in the way of a quiet euphoria in the vocal delivery and I hope with three singles out in the world that there is an EP or album on the way as Carmen McLean is an artist to watch.

Lost & Found Lyrics:

Here, in the lost & found

She holds me close, wraps her arms around me

And won’t let go

She holds me close for the night

Safe, in the lost & found

I feel her softness, and it’s all around me

We’ve made our home

In the sheets alone for the night

And home is where her

Heart beats warm and slow

Soothe all my wounds

Paint me in gold, gold

Calm, in the lost & found

Her on mine, intertwined and bound

By the yellow comfort

And everlasting light

And home is where her

Heart beats warm and slow

Soothe all my wounds

Paint me in gold, gold

Cause home is where her

Heart beats warm and slow

Soothe all my wounds

Paint me in gold, gold
