Judging by the evidence of new single ‘Rise Up’, the shape of sound in the future appears to be rip-roaring gospel and bluesy rock & roll, not exactly what I’d expected but infinitely preferable to the sparse, synthy minimalism often used to portray future music in films & tv.
East London collective The Future Shape of Sound unveiled the video for their new single ‘Rise Up’, featuring a soulful vocal from guest singer Sister Cookie, this week. It features friends and collaborators including Jim Jones, Son of Dave, The Urban Voodoo Machine and occasional Joyzine writer Chenaii in a stomping pastiche of late night talk shows.
‘Rise Up’ is out now on Freshly Squeezed Records and features on the album ‘Electro Blues Vol. 2’
