Earlier this week we reviewed Get Back, a new documentary telling the story of the Liverpool music scene from the post-war era to the present day (read the review here). The film aimed to show that there’s more to the Mersey sound than The Beatles, and to illustrate the point further, director Roger Appleton has put together a playlist of some of his favourite tracks by Liverpudlian artists.
There’s a real mix of styles amongst the 58 tracks that he’s selected, from traditional Scouse classics such as Gerry & The Pacemakers’ ‘Ferry Cross The Mersey’ to the underground sounds of Clinic’s ‘Walking With Thee’, which showcases the massive range of styles that the city has produced over the past sixty years.
Get Back: The Story of The City That Rocked The World is available now through Bulldog Film Distribution.
