We rounded off our first year of live noise at Hoodoo’s, presened with with our favourite local punks Frauds, with another night of great bands from Croydon and beyond.
First up was Stephen EvEns, returning for a second THWGI outing with his guitar and a selection of dark psyche tunes.
He was swiftly followed by Dusty Boners, one half of our co-hosts Frauds, eschewing their savage distortion and pummeling drums in favour of an acoustic guitar and kazoo but mainitaining the dark and surreal humour that’s made them firm favourites round these parts.
Ghosts of Dead Airplanes had made the long terk south-east from Birmingham and bombarded the crowd with a set of tight, garage tinged post-punk.
The night, and indeed the year, was rounded off in suitably ferocious fashion by excellent punk duo JOHN (both of whom are indeed called John).
So that’s it for our live music endeavours for 2016. We’ll be back with our first show of 2017 on Saturday 4th February – keep your eyes on facebook.com/joyzine for news of what we have in store.
