Video of the Day: Jon Spencer – Do The Trash Can

Having been part of such legendary acts as Pussy Galore, Boss Hog, Heavy Trash and of course his Blues Explosion, Jon Spencer’s place in the garage rock pantheon is pretty much nailed on, and with this, the first track to be shared from his upcoming debut solo record Spencer Sings The Hits, he’s not showing any sign of resting on his laurels.

‘Do The Trash Can’ has everything you’d want from a Spencer track: stomping drums, a filthy fuzzed-up bass-line, and lyrics about imaginary dance crazes delivered in his trademark drawl; but far from sounding like a tired re-tread of former glories it sounds just as fresh and vital as the first Pussy Galore recordings back in the mid-eighties.
