Steve Horry has been a long standing friend and collaborator of Joyzine’s since we first met him as frontman of 586 in the early 2000s. Since then he’s fronted a number of bands, set up the excellent Nuis@nce indie club and produced countless graphic novels, as well doing the odd spot of writing and artwork for Joyzine, so when our planned Christmas gig in Deptford fell through and Steve asked if we’d fancy co-promoting a show with him, it was a no-brainer.
The show, taking place at Paper Dress Vintage in Hackney on Saturday 21st December, features a host of familiar faces including coldwave synthpop duo Silent Star, country punk singer-songwriter Dexy, mega-band Keith Top Of The Pops & His Minor UK Indie Celebrity All-Star Backing Band and Mr Horry himself who will be joined onstage by a host of former bandmates and musical chums for a selection of covers and some tunes from his previous bands. Our own Paul Maps will be manning the decks alongside DJs Simon Drowner (Desperate Journalist / Some Weird Sin / Nuis@nce), Abigail Brady (Abigail’s Parties / Kenickers) and a set by our host.
It all kicks off at 8pm and entry is free. Further details can be found here.
