Video Premiere: The Midnight Wishers – He Loves Me Not

Described as “a musical ringmaster in the tradition of Phil Spector or Shadow Morton”, 21st century svengali Curtis Godino presents The Midnight Wishers – a new band with a sound somewhat akin to the ghosts of a sixties girl group being channeled through a fuzzy transistor radio.

Comprised of lead vocalist Jin Lee, who contributes lyrics to Godino’s dreamy compositions, and backing singers Rachel Herman and Jessica McFarland the band are due to release their debut album Curtis Godino Presents The Midnight Wishers on 11th February via Shimmy Disc/Joyful Noise Recordings. Today we have an enxclusive first look at the video for the latest single to be taken from the LP ‘He Loves Me Not’.

“‘He Loves Me Not’ is the album’s most decisive foray beyond the girl-group formula,” says Godino. Lyrics inspired by the lovelorn flower-picking game are supported by piano, mellotron, woodwinds and backward tracks plucked directly from the British Invasion.” He describes it as “a song with a fall feeling.”

‘He Loves Me Not’ is out on Friday 21st January via Shimmy Disc/Joyful Noise, ahead of the release of their self-titled debut album, due on 11th February – pre-order here
