Festival Preview: ArcTanGent

With all the festivals now back up and running you might be finding it hard to choose which one(s) to go to.  If you like your music loud/post-rock/a bit math-y and/or are looking to tread gently on the planet then look no further than ArcTanGent Festival taking place in the Mendip Hills near Bristol from 17-20 August 2022.

This year’s festival sees the welcome return to of the fantastic MONO (pictured) who are often hailed as Japan’s answer to Mogwai, which is certainly a compliment to both bands.  We however note them more for being the only band we’ve seen play with an actual gong on stage.  Also on the line-up are regulars Jamie Lenman, Pijn and Delta Sleep as well as the mighty Opeth from Sweden, perhaps the kings of the genre if it can be called one, who are headlining.

Not only have we been impressed with the sheer quality of the music in the past but their green credentials are equally inspiring as they offer punters reusable cups, sustainable merch,  use 100% recycled flyers, and their affiliated coach company offsets the carbon generated by travel to and from the festival.  It’s no wonder ATG won ‘Best Small Festival’ at the UK Festival Awards just before lockdown.

Besides, why wouldn’t you want to check out bands with names including Pupil Slicer and Thumpermonkey? Get your tickets from the last few remaining HERE.
