SINGLE/VIDEO REVIEW: THE GO! TEAM – DIVEBOMB

Hold the front page, put down your coffee or mid-afternoon beer (I don’t judge) and step away from the spreadsheet for there is big news. The Go! Team have released a new single and video ‘Divebomb‘. It’s the herald for their forthcoming album Get Up Sequences Part Two.

It’s a protest song extolling pro-choice which features Detroit based rapper IndigoYaj, but in true Go! Team fashion it’s no dour slice of worthy finger-pointing; their dynamic cheerleading aesthetic wouldn’t allow it. “Protest songs have always been a balancing act,” says The Go! Team’s Ian Parton. “If you’re too sledgehammer it’s cringey – like the Scorpions’ ‘Winds of Change’ or something – but at the same time given the stuff they’re trying to pull with abortion rights it feels weird to ignore it.”.

The video has the look of a mash-up of title sequences from 70s documentary series with stills of people protesting cascading passed your eyes in psychedelic colours. The song is a feast for the soul and the video a feast for the eyes. Thank the stars for the Go! Team we need their rambunctious angry-optimism now more than ever.

You can pre-order the album in many variations including a limited-edition vinyl with t-shirt and print from their music glue store
