The Allergies new single ‘Mash Up The Sound’ is a funked up fusion track that’s bristling with solar powered energy which pulls in the best elements of house, dancehall and reggae for a solid 4-on-the-floor joyride.
This is Pigbag on steroids, and it’s packed full of whistles, timbales, soaring trumpet, a solid bass line, and a guitar lick that would have Nile Rodgers nodding his approval. As if this wasn’t enough we get the huge vocals of Joe Lickshot roaring over the top sounding like he could get even the shyest person in the room jumping like the floor is electrified.
‘Mash Up The Sound’ makes it hard for me to type this review as I keep wanting to put my hands in the air. Had it been released in the 80s or 90s it would have been accompanied by a litany of 12” remixes (something for The Allergies to consider). This track will brighten the gloomiest of days and needs to be heard on every dancefloor this summer, a whistle round your neck, a large rum in one hand and a glow stick in the other.
‘Mash Up The Sound’ is available to stream, download and also as a limited edition 7”.
