SINGLE REVIEW: FAT CONCUBINE – THE WORLD AT OUR FEET

Fat Concubine are a new project that mix the electronic with the avant-garde and ‘The World At Our Feet’ is their new single.

Bouncing in like the Devil’s space hopper, the song is built on the pounding of synthetic jack hammers. Cold electronic winds propel an ice storm of sounds that whip around this glacial mountain from which the vocals resound as either detached monologue or guttural screams that chill the blood as much as they quicken the heart.

If you are someone who looks under the bed or in the wardrobe before going to bed then you might get a glimpse of Fat Concubine lurking in that twilight world between day and night. Like a gothic mansion, a haunted house, or abandoned amusement park it may be unsettling, but I like it.

Having recently played in Reykjavik Fat Concubine play a free launch show tonight – 1st September – with Nexus_0 and Bloke at Jaguar Shoes , tickets available from DICE.

Forthcoming gigs:

3rd Sep – The Prince Albert Brighton

7th Sep – Le Klub Paris

Bristol and Glasgow – tba

Lyrics:

The beauty is my fuel
The beauty is yours
We weren’t always welcome
But left our spurs
The arrangements are made sir
Sincerely your band
Unpredictable happy ends

Here we are
The world at our feet
Here we are
The world at our feet

The ones who hated us
Were the ones we admire
Wanna be like us now
Let them have their desire
The arrangements are made sir
Sincerely your band
Add some sugar
I love the highs

Here we are
The world at our feet
Here we are
The world at our feet

The beauty is my fuel
The beauty is yours
We weren’t always welcome
But left our spurs
The arrangements are made sir
Sincerely your band
Unpredictable happy ends

Here we are
The world at our feet
Here we are
