Live In Pictures: Nova Twins support Muse at The O2 Arena, London

The first time that we came across Nova Twins (thanks, as so often has been the case, to the ever wonderful Caffy St Luce of Rocklands) was on the modest stage of short lived South London alt-art utopia of Number3 Deptford, where their heavy mixture of punk, metal and grime luminesced, but we couldn’t have predicted what was to follow.

Since then they’ve successfully lobbied the MOBO Awards to introduce a ‘Best Alternative Music’ category (for which they were subsequently nominated alongside Big Joanie, Skunk Anansie and eventual winner Bob Vylan), taken Glastonbury’s Other Stage by storm (earning the praise of Elton John in the process) and are now supporting stadium rock behemoths Muse (who I was also fortunate enough to catch on their way up, playing my local leisure centre in the late 90s supported by some band called Coldplay – whatever happened to them?) on their UK tour. Lorna Cort was at London enormodome The O2 Arena to capture the night on camera for Joyzine.

The moral of the story is simple – get down to your local grassroots music venue and check out some new bands, you never know when you might stumble upon the next Nova Twins.

  1. I saw Nova Twins at Glastonbury and thought their energy was immense. Great they’re doing big support shows but hope they can headline smaller venues too.
