Hello friends. It’s been a little while since I’ve reviewed anything and it took something special to drag me out of hibernation…
TTSSFU (AKA Tasmin Stephens) has released the first single from their forthcoming EP – ‘Me, Jed and Andy’ (due 23rd February 2024). This Manchester based ‘DIY/ bedroom shoegazer‘ appears to have been spending the last few years developing something pretty unique.
A little foray into their site on Bandcamp is an unexplored delight. Demos sound like something most established artists couldn’t pull off. The atmosphere they are managing to get into their work is seriously impressive, especially considering this is a one person effort (the only other credit for an early track seems to be for their cat – you know I’m down for this).

The EP is ‘inspired by the complicated romance between Jed Johnson and Andy Warhol, (and) also tackles Tasmin contextualising the anger, failure and disappointment of their own relationships through dreamy, whirling soundscapes.’
The single ‘I Hope You Die’ will draw you in as soon as you hear it. Layers building over a repetitive beat, soft vocals with hard hitting lyrics, and a guitar hook some would kill for.
The tag line on TTSSFU’s Bandcamp says ‘welcome to hell’. I think differently… see you in Manchester in December.
‘Me, Jed and Andy’ EP will be released via Fear of Missing Out Records on 24th February 2024. TTSSFU will be supporting Pregoblin at YES, Manchester on 7th December 2023.
