Kerosene Kream are a Swedish garage band whose new release ‘Bulbous Swelling’ is their first single with one of my favourite labels PNKSLM home to 7ebra, Chemtrails, ShitKid, Black Mekon and many more.
The song evokes the feeling of being in a club so tiny you can smell the band’s breath, and you’re pressed up so closely to the rest of the crowd they should have bought you dinner first. The opening is a convulsive cough of guitar; a lit fuse that ignites the fun and frenzy of the rest of the song. Mid and treble sounds are pushed to the front, and it sounds like the output channel has been filtered through a paper and comb. Also, never underestimate the unbridled joy of hearing someone shouting the lyrics at the same time that someone is singing the tune. ‘Bulbous Swelling’ is a fairground ride at World of Gravel and an abrasive joy from start to finish.
Kerosene Kream are currently finishing off their debut album for PNKLM and you can follow them on Bandcamp and Facebook.
