SINGLE REVIEW: POSTAL BLUE – I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN

Brazilian band Postal Blue began their life at the end of the 90s inspired by bands such as the Smiths, Stones Roses and R.E.M. There were originally four members but only singer/songwriter Adriano do Couto remains, and ‘I Should Have Known’ – and its B-Side ‘When You’re Not Here’ – are the first releases from an album that is coming later this year.

‘I Should Have Known’ has a very 80s sound that combines the guitar jangle of Edwyn Collins with the warm summer glow of The Lotus Eaters’ ‘First Picture of You’. Soft vocals and the strum of acoustic guitar play well with the friendly riffs and Andy Rourke-style bass line. Harking back is no crime especially when it brings a joyful song like this.
