VIDEO PREMIERE – 9-VOLT VELVET – HEY CANDY

The wonderfully named 9-Volt Velvet are just about to release the video for ‘Hey Candy’ taken from their new album Nude Beaches (out on CD May 10).

‘Hey Candy’ is a glam-bam-thankyou-ma’am wall of roiling guitar, bass, keyboards and drums. It’s a 70’s stack heeled tour de force dressed in space-age fabrics and driving a rocket propelled Ford Transit into space. It’s a track that doesn’t a degree in music theory to appreciate it; this is a jet pack so strap it on and brace yourself for launch.

9-Volt Velvet have given Joyzine readers the opportunity to to see the video to ‘Hey Candy’ ahead of its official launch.

NB: Musicians have always had a sweet tooth when it comes to word candy in song titles. See also Candy Man (Sammy Davis Jnr), ‘The Big Rock Candy Mountains’ (Harry McClintock 1928 & Burl Ives 1956), ‘Candy & A Current Bun’ (Pink Floyd), ‘Candy Says’ (The Velvet Underground), ‘Candy Girl’ (New Edition), ‘Candy-O’ (The Cars), ‘Some Candy Talking’ (Jesus & Mary Chain) and ‘I Want Candy’ (The Strangeloves & Bow Wow Wow).
