I reviewed 7ebra’s single ‘Normal Song’ back in May but now the lo-fi, hi-fun sisters have released an accompanying video. ‘Normal Song’ demonstrates their ability to weave tunes into earworms and fill their songs to the brim with super-catchy hooks and riffs. The video shows them being normal: hanging out, eating fast food, being energetically youthful running around a park, and destroying a printer with friends Elli Malmenborg, Jonas Stubbergaard and Jojje Lindgård (I doubt there’s a person alive who hasn’t want to take a hammer to a printer or photocopier when they jam, print upside down, print in black and white when you want colour, or just don’t print at all).
7ebra’s star continues to grow brighter and they are gathering as many fans from other bands as they are from the public. They have just finished a support slot touring with Arab Strap and are soon to be playing some sold out Swedish dates supporting Paolo Nutini.
I know music writers are always urging readers to go and see a band live but I wholeheartedly recommend catching 7ebra playing in smaller venues as I know they are destined for bigger and bigger gigs and the steady climb up the billing on the festival circuit.
‘Normal Song’ is available from their Bandcamp page and, as well as the digital download, you can also get a limited edition blue/yellow 7″ (only 300 being made).
