In this series, I will explore the grassroots music scene, examining the key players, their roles, and the insights they can offer to Joyzine and its readers.
Now in its third year, The Cable Festival brings together emerging artists from the underground electronic scene. On 26th February to 2nd March.
Where does festival take place?
The festival takes place in Stoke-on-Trent at the Artisan Tap, a larger venue than in previous years, reflecting our growth and expanding audience.
How did you get involved and what was your inspiration?
The festival was founded to unite the vibrant community of electronic music artists emerging from the EMOM movement. Since electronic artists often struggle to find gigs outside EMOM sessions, this festival provides another platform for them to perform.
How do you select the acts?
The first year involved personally reaching out to artists, but we’ve since transitioned to an application process. This year, we received an overwhelming number of applications, making the selection process both exciting and challenging. I’m thrilled with the final lineup.
How will this year be different?
This year, we’ve expanded significantly. The larger venue boasts a bigger sound system, and we’ve introduced an additional opening night. While past festivals featured local headliners, we’re excited to welcome international artist Amelie Swan from the US headlining on Friday, with Leg Puppy 2.0 closing out Saturday night. The lineup includes over 40 acts with rising talents such as Valentia Reptile, The Palindrones, Analogue Electronic Whatever, & Elba Rose.
For the first time we have an official sponsor with Bear Town Brewery.
What can festival goers expect?
Expect a vibrant and welcoming community of electronic music enthusiasts. The festival showcases a diverse spectrum of electronic music, from expertly crafted pop songs to immersive experimental soundscapes. This year, we’re also featuring more industrial acts, including Siouxsie Suicide, Shared Systems, Mandibles, Iamimperfect & St Lucifer, which has led to an exciting collaboration with Strange Events—opening the doors to an entirely new audience.
We are also offering early bird tickets for just £10!
