EP Review: Twat Union- Don’t Look It In The Eye

The fantastically titled Twat Union hail from South London and can be described as a feminist chaos pop-punk band—and to be honest, that description had me at “feminist chaos.” Don’t Look It in the Eye is their frankly brilliant debut EP, packed with sass, tongue-in-cheek humour, and sing-along lyrics that are bound to get stuck in your head after just one listen.

This is a band unafraid to broach any subject. The self-explanatory track UTI turns something many women dread—a urinary tract infection—into a ridiculously catchy chorus: “U to the I, T to I don’t feel fine.” It’s raw, real, and unexpectedly joyful in its defiance. Then there’s Little Pink Drill, an innuendo-filled banger with a double meaning: part diss on the infantilising “pink culture” (pink tax, anyone?), part cheeky celebration of the vibrator that “fills the hole.” (Ahem.)

Each track on this EP brings its own bold energy, but my personal favourite has to be Singer of the Band. It’s another earworm, this time tackling sexism in music—how women are still automatically assumed to be the singer, not the drummer, guitarist, or bassist. It’s sharp, knowing, and relatable to anyone who’s ever had their role underestimated based purely on gender.

With riffs as punchy as their lyrics and a sense of humour as cutting as it is clever, Twat Union are here to make noise—and they’re doing it brilliantly. If you like your punk loud, proud, and unapologetically feminist, this EP is essential listening.
