Fifteen years into their career, Chastity Belt remain one of indie rock’s most intriguing contradictions: a band that began as a drunken college joke yet has written some of the sharpest feminist anthems of the 2010s. Despite critical acclaim, Chastity Belt never crossed over into mainstream stardom. Instead, they’ve maintained their status as cult favourites. They kicked off their UK tour with an intimate show at the Portland Arms in Cambridge.
Support came from Blue Cinema, a local, post-punk, five-piece and Spike, a solo synth-pop project with Joy Division like weirdness.
Chasity Belt played songs from their latest album, “Live Laugh Love”, which sees each band member taking on lead vocals on different songs. And finished with the most popular songs from their back catalogue.
Look out for Chastity Belt bringing their dreamy soundscapes to Dorset, Manchester, Birmingham, London and Margate from 29th August to the 3rd September.
