Clutter are one of the rising stars on the PNKSLM label, and a band that writer Hayley Foster da Silva was taken with from their first single ‘Jesus’ and also ‘transfixed by their ‘90s-influenced yet totally unique sound’ when she went to see them play at the Lexington in April.
They are back with new single ‘Superstar’, a splashy growl of a song which has a menacing chord sequence that could hark back to ‘Is Vic There?’ by Department S. The chorus is a fantastic one-note-chant and the guitar riff that keeps punching through has the power of a horseshoe in a boxing glove; it’s as epic as it is catchy. This is garage rock with the anger of 80’s post-punk and the grit of the single is matched by the grainy quality of the video directed by Henrik Luhr.
The song is available as a deluxe bundle with splatter 7” vinyl and t-shirt, available on the PNKSLM website.
