On the 17th of April, Peaches slid into town on her “No Lube, So Rude” tour, bringing her uncompromising (and utterly insane) live show to The Ritz in Manchester.
The party was started earlier in the evening by the fiery Bimini, who soon had the place moving and primed for Peaches; a fitting support, with her sharp humour and unapologetically defiant messages in support of trans rights and against misogyny.
Peaches started as she meant to go on, squeezing more gloriously obscene theatricality into her first song than you can expect in the entirety of most other shows. The routine involved shedding a phallus-clad outer layer to reveal something close to an X-rated Grinch.
The performance as a whole was nothing short of an impressive feat on a physical level, with Peaches at one point standing on the crowd like a blasphemous Shesus walking on water (sweat-soaked fans). Between this, her intense choreography, and running around the venue, she truly gave her all while delivering her trademark politically-profane wit. Credit is very much also due to her incredible dancers!
A highly entertaining, refreshingly unfiltered and uncensored night in all senses; something incredibly vital in a time where freedom of expression and voices of human rights advocacy are increasingly threatened.
Photographer Der Fotoautomat was in the middle of the madness to capture the absurdity and spectacle of the unforgettable night… so, strap on (sorry… in!).
