Entertain the Space is Lennie Rayen’s debut full-length album. The deeply personal lyrics read like chapters in a book, each track building on the last. The production and mixing are exceptional throughout—even the stripped-back songs showcase strong production values, with beautifully placed sounds across the stereo spectrum.
Rayen’s voice is gently captivating. On tracks like “Time Like Its Wind” and “Right To Me,” her voice takes on a lullaby-like quality. The simple arrangements on these songs allow the production to shine, with layered elements that build excitement and energy.
I’m typically drawn to sounds and vibes over lyrics, but “Blue Pill” stopped me. This lyric particularly stands out:
“There’s nothing that I can do, or I can say, that would cure you now / I’m not gonna blame you / But I can’t stick around”
It captures something rare—the tension between advocating for yourself when someone you care about is struggling with addiction, while also expressing a deeply felt apology. It’s both boundary-setting and heartbreak.
In a Backstory interview for Turn & Work, Rayen describes her creative process with striking honesty:
“I really love the in-between, when you’ve made something and no one else knows about it yet. I like having that all to myself. It might be one of the few things in life that feels truly fulfilling to me.”
This perspective gave me pause. For most of us, sharing is why we create—we want fewer barriers between creation and release. But Rayen’s words made me reconsider: maybe there’s value in savoring that private moment before the world hears it. Maybe I shouldn’t be so hell-bent on getting my music out.
Entertain the Space is a standout album. Listen to all of it.
