Bramwell are riding high. Formed in Torquay, strengthened in Exeter and now based in Cardiff, 2026 has seen the fourpiece boost their profile massively with everyone who knows how they like their jangle-pop buttered. With stacks of gigs under their collective belts, a tour underway and a clutch of vinyl releases, at this point in any potted history it’s common to falsely use the line “and they’re picking up an army of fans along the way”. For Bramwell that’s a FACT. So yeah, they’ve been picking up an army of fans along way. The musos love them. The bands love them. The venue owners love them. The wannabe music journalists love them. Most importantly though – actual people love them, turning out to shows in the full knowledge that something great is happening.
So, let’s catch up and see how it’s going…
1. Hello Bramwell! Please introduce yourselves…
We’re Bramwell. Our names are Tom (vox and guitar), Avalon (vox and bass), Sol (drums) and Niall (guitar). We’re from Torquay and the surrounding areas of Devonshire originally but now we live in Cardiff, Wales.
2. How would you describe Bramwell to the uninitiated?
The music we make is guitar pop. Synths will be involved at some point, though, we’re sure of it.
3. Let’s talk influences. I’m guessing it’s a broad church…
There are so so many things that go into the songwriting, look and sound of the band. Off the top of the dome the big ones are sixties psych, classic radio pop, British 80s DIY stuff, The La’s, Guided By Voices, Cleaners from Venus.
4. You’ve been going for a few years but rather than burning out, 2026 feels like you’ve put your foot on the accelerator hard. Any reason?
We’ve fine-tuned the sound and songwriting, changed lineup, and found ourselves in the middle of a really exciting and lovely cross-country ‘pop’ oriented scene.
5. With four fantastic singles available to date, which is your favourite and why?
‘Standing on Stones’ because we feel it is the most like what the Bramwell sound is. Thematically, songwriting wise, production wise. It captures our love for classic pop but making it sound ‘unreal’ like hallucinating twinkly sugary music that’s kind of out of any time. We love Daryl Johns for doing that kind of thing.

6. Tell us about the latest single…
The name ‘British Rails (Are Long and Fast)’ comes from a public information film about trains. I saw it and then put a melody and guitar to it on a very hot afternoon in the summer of ‘24. The song kind of wrote itself, didn’t have to do many edits to it past that first go at writing it. We recorded it in our flat in Cardiff, with drums recorded with one mic down the road in a practice room. Trains have been such a huge part of our lives as we all grew up along the beautiful Riviera Line in South Devon and that’s how we got around. It’s a combination of our love of weird British cultural history and our love of each other!

7. Are we building up to a debut album release anytime soon?
We’re recording after our tour and hopefully can get enough songs recorded to start teeing up a release. All the thematic elements are there, cover and name ideas etc… We just need to get it recorded!
8. At the time of writing, you’re on tour with Autocamper. Enjoying it?
We’re writing this on the way to Newcastle for night 3 of the tour. It’s been good but very hot. We’ve been trialling new songs and we’re so grateful people want to come to see us in places we have never been to!
9. What do you love / hate about being in a band?
We love when the songs we’ve written come together perfectly in practice, and then getting excited to play it in front of people. Nothing’s better than that feeling. Being able to put your weird thoughts and ideas and obsessions into a pop song and having people love it is very satisfying. Oh and we also like being around each other!
We hate having to keep on top of a million logistical issues, but I wouldn’t say hate because if we really hated it, we’d just quit. We like the challenge.
10. What else should we expect before the end of the year?
More tours, more singles. We just want to share great guitar pop music with the world as we like to receive it!
