Vantablack is a literary splatterpunk chamber doom/drone band founded by Scottish author Chris Kelso and composer Nick Hudson (ASVA, The Academy of Sun, Toby Driver band) and Stuart Dahlquist (Burning Witch, Sunn O))), Goatsnake, ASVA). Each Vantablack release is a record, a novella and a short film, conceived and delivered as one object.
Phantoms of Nagasaki and its B-side ‘Sorceror Cantos’, are based on poems created by Chris Kelso, inspired by William Friedkin’s Sorcerer (1977). Both are performed by Nick Hudson (voices, sampler, programming, bagpipe chanter, harpsichord, BBC library vinyl manipulation, field recordings) and Sandro Gigolashvili (guitars, bass). Recital on ‘Sorcerer Cantos’ by B.R. Yeager. Drones and creakings by Kianna Blue and Wolfgang Dubieniec.
‘Phantoms of Nagasaki’ is available via digital and limited edition 7”
