We staged our first To Hell With Good Intentions Night, alongside our good pals Frauds, at new Croydon venue Hoodoo’s on 11th December. The place was packed from the first strum to the final howl of feedback with five great acts all getting a great reaction from the crowd.
First up was South London solo artist Stephen Evens whose psychedelia tinged guitar confessionals and dark sense of humour held the room wrapt in silence.
Next up were local alt-rock four-piece The Jonbarr Hinge. Their twin-vocals and triple guitar assault went down a storm with the Hoodoo’s crowd.
Mystified took the noise levels up a notch with a hair-flailing set of high energy garage-psyche.
Then it was time for our co-promoters Frauds to take the stage, blasting through a post-hardcore set that was equal parts rage and catharsis.
Headliners Love Buzzard finished things with a bang, the drumkit beaten to within an inch of its life while frontman Kevin Lennon oozed thick layers of grungey guitar and barked vocals on top.
Great bands, a fantastic venue and a brilliant crowd; all in all, pretty much the best first night we could have hoped for. We’ll be back – keep an eye out for more dates soon.
