The Joyzine Advent Calendar – Day 22 of Free Downloads from Our Favourite Artists

It’s day 22 on The Joyzine Advent Calendar and with just three days to go until Christmas, we’ll be joining much of the population in spending our afternoon rushing around the shops and cursing our general lack of festive organisation while the well prepared few gaze down on the chaos with smug, knowing smiles.  Whichever camp you fall into, we’ve got a little gift just for you today with another triple helping of free downloads.

Track #1: Equinox – Scream ft. Pulco

Spoken word artist Equinox is due to release him debut album It’s Hard to Be Happy when Your Head Is Full of Sin in 2017, which will see his poetry performed to music through a series of collaborations.  Details are currently scarce though we’re promised ‘some VERY big names that will surprise a lot of people.’

Whilst we draw up wish-lists in our mind here’s a little taster in the form of first track ‘Scream’, which features Welsh lo-fi minimalist Pulco.

Track #2: Superglu – Latvian (Why Would Yule Do That?)

We caught Superglu’s set supporting Southend power punks Asylums at the Tooting Tram & Social last week and were blown away by their infectious mix of Pixies-esque alt rock and catchy indiepop.

The band released their latest single ‘Dreams’ last month and today we have an exclusive festive version of its predecessor ‘Latvian’, remixed by John Callaghan – frontman Ben Brown made the local news earlier this year by riding from his hometown of Manningtree in Essex to Brighton & climbed four flights of scaffolding to serenade his girlfriend with the track after a falling out.

The band play one last show for 2017 at The Swan in Ipswich on 27th December before kicking of 2017 with a gig at The Sebright Arms in London on 25th January.

Track #3: Yip Man – Not That Easy

Scottish solo artist Yip Man, the alter ego of Al Nero formerly of Le Reno Amps, released his new LP Braw Power in November through his own Armellodie Records imprint.  Full of dark humour and hooky indie rock tunes the album was forged following Al’s time in China and made it onto Vic Galloway’s ‘Festive Fifty’ on BBC Radio Scotland.
