With a studio band featuring members of Modest Mouse and The Shins and a producer whose previous credits include The White Stripes and The Strokes it’s fair to say that Rare Americans’ self-titled debut LP comes with a pretty impressive pedigree, and thankfully the band, formed around the fulcrum of Canadian siblings Jared and James Priestner and guitarist Lubo Ivan, have the tunes to back it up.
Following the excellent rambling lo-fi stream of consciousness ‘Cats, Dogs and Rats’, new single ‘Night After Night’ is a pleasingly scratchy strumathon with a big group chant chorus and some catchy “hey-hey-heys”.
The album Rare Americans is out now.
