When Joyzine’s Anna Siemiaczko reviewed Oxford trio Lucy Leave’s current LP Everyone Is Doing So Well (released through Divine Schism back in January), she described it as “a total world of mashed up sounds, pitches and riffs, a great, fun and relevant kickstarter to the new decade.” That was enough to get the album on heavy rotation in Joyzine central office and we’ve been similarly enraptured by their wiggly art-pop charms.
The latest single to be taken from the album, ‘Gymnastics Club’ is an ode to the band’s shared enjoyment of a local gymnasium and is a perfect demonstration of their mathy indiepop charms. It also features the line “Stop – Roly Poly”, which is reason enough to fall in love with it by itself. The track comes backed with a video featuring footage shot at the titular sporting venue, a male voice choir and a lovely donkey. We’re delighted to bring you the video premiere on Joyzine today.
The band head out on tour later in March, hitting the following venues:
21/3 – London @ Sister Midnight Records w/ Adults + Dear Man
23/3 – Nottingham @ JT Soar
24/3 – Hull @ The New Adelphi
25/3 – Wakefield @ Now Serving w/ Crake
28/3 – Sheffield @ Hatch w/ Amaku Miru
3/4 – Oxford @ The Bullingdon w/ Porridge Radio + Pet Shimmers
