We’re gearing up for our first gig of 2020 and we could not be more excited. Featuring three of our favourite bands at one of South East London’s loveliest independent music venues, it’s shaping up to be a great night and what’s more it’s free entry!
Kicking things off will be DIY lo-fi punk sensations Breakup Haircut, who have been one of the driving forces behind this year’s excellent First Timers Fest. Having formed at last year’s event and released one of our favourite debut records of 2019, they’re now preparing to unveil its follow-up and have just been announced for the ever lovely Indietracks Festival in the summer.
Following them, Hot Sauce Pony feature members past and present of half of our favourite bands and have become stalwarts of the scene that’s sprung up around The Windmill and Brixton Hill Studios in recent years. Their Steve Albini produced debut LP was a delicious mix of pretty much any genre ever to have featured fuzzy guitars and an underlying sense of menace.
Headliners Vienna Ditto have been favourites around these parts ever since their demo dropped into our inbox over a decade ago. It remains one of the best we’ve received. Since then their skewed concoction of surfy guitar, smoky jazz club vocals and trip hop beats has been further embellished with fragments of gospel, blues, electro, drum & bass and pretty much anything else they can lay their hands on.
