Single Review: USA Nails – I Don’t Own Anything

USA Nails have released the new video for latest single ‘I Don’t Own Anything’ taken from their fifth album Character Stop set for release on October 23rd 2020 through Hex Records (USA) and Bigout Records (Europe).

Based around a gloriously simple riff, and an earth shattering drum and bass throb, this is 1.23 of sublime noise making. The lyrics speak about the current anxiety Covid-19 ridden existence that we’re currently living through. Lyrically coming from the perspective of a struggling Millennial, the sounds USA Nails create owe a lot to early 90s Sonic Youth. Additionally, the minimalist low budget 8-bit video they created (presumably in lockdown) reminds me a lot of Tony Oursler’s videos for SY and Bowie.

USA Nails have an impressive pedigree and back catalogue, and will definitely be creating headaches and furious mosh pits once this virus decides to fuck off. Brilliant noisy stuff!

USA Nails feature current and ex-members of – Blacklisters, Kong, Oceansize, Silent Front, Death Pedals, Future of the Left and Dead Arms. USA Nails will tour Europe and the US in 2021, following a clutch of UK album launch shows in late 2020 (Covid-19 depending!)
