I didn’t visit Camden during the months of the lockdown, but as someone whose formative years as a music fan were in the mid-90s, when NW1 seemed like the centre of the universe, the thought of its legendary music venues falling silent is one that fills me with a particular kind of sadness. However, with restrictions lifted it’s now time to crank up the volume, and if there’s one thing that signifies that live music is back in the North London borough, it’s the return of the Camden Rocks All-Dayer.
Today’s show is the second of a three-day weekend that began the previous day at Camden Assembly and will move on tomorrow to The Black Heart. Today within the walls of The Fiddler’s Elbow, the crowd are treated to sets from Kilburn blues rock trio Kingdom, who kick proceedings off, London rock & rollers The Heat Inc., psychedelic funk rockers The Wizard Kings and classic rock quintet Star Circus before heading into the evening with the groove metal sounds of Those Bloody Kids, metallers Silverhex, The Vone‘s massive riffs and riot grrrls Lady Rage. Joyzine’s Rupert Hitchcox was there to capture the action on camera.
