THE JOYZINE ADVENT CALENDAR – 24 DAYS OF FREE FESTIVE DOWNLOADS: #10 Palm Ghosts

It’s December, which round these parts means it’s time once again for The Joyzine Advent Calendar! This year we’re celebrating our 20th edition, so we’ve scoured the archives to mix in some calendar classics along with a few fresh festive cuts from our favourite artists.

As always every track on the calendar will be absolutely free to download, and we don’t force you to sign up for our mailing list (though you can if you want, here) or hand over all of your personal data. The calendar is our Christmas gift to the world (or at least the part of it that enjoys seasonal songs by obscure indie musicians), but if you’re also in the giving mood we’d love you to make a donation to our chosen cause, the excellent anti-racism charity HOPE not hate, which you can do here.

On with the free festive tunes!

So far on this year’s Advent Calendar, we’ve mostly been meeting up with old friends, almost all of whom have featured on the calendar before, but today it’s time to make some new acquaintances and take our first sojourn across the Atlantic of our 2023 edition to meet Nashville, Tennessee’s Palm Ghosts and their track ‘It’s Always Christmas Time’, which you can download below. The band released their new album I Love You, Burn In Hell last month, which creates a catchy and melodic soundtrack to the dysfunctional world which we inhabit. We caught up with the band to find out more.

What have you been up to this year?

We released our latest record I Love You, Burn in Hell with Sweet Cheetah / Poptek Records, played some great shows in the US and Canada, Milwaukee Summerfest and Mile of Music Festivals.

What have you got planned for 2024?

Hopefully more great shows and another record.

Tell us about your track

It was recorded last year for Season for a Smile, a  record for the great non profit, The Team Bryce Foundation, a nonprofit devoted to improving the lives of children with special needs and their families by helping them achieve their full potential through participation in sports and other activities. This is accomplished through music-related and other fundraising events and donations to a variety of like-minded organizations in Southeast Wisconsin.

This year Joyzine has been celebrating our 20th birthday – what were you up to in 2003?

Living in Philadelphia and playing in the punk band Hilliard.

Any new year’s resolution?

More fun shows, meeting more nice people, etc.
