Just when you think there couldn’t be another guitar riff that would make you sit up and pay attention along come Yokophono with their new single ‘Red’. It’s a hard job to balance meter-in-the-red heavy rock with funky swagger but this sits squarely in the centre of that Venn Diagram and it’s catchy AF. When the soft middle eight starts building you are begging for them to bring the heavy back and, happily, they oblige.
All power to this duo from Turku in Finland and I hope someone is booking them into as many 2024 Summer festivals as possible as they are going to get audiences jumping and building up new fans by the lorry load.
