VIDEO REVIEW: DANGEROUS BRIAN – ON MY WAY

It’s a brave man who releases a song that has a synth line in the first minute which builds from low thrum to phased dentist drill, but maybe that’s what makes Dangerous Brian (DB) someone whose cage you shouldn’t poke your fingers in. But once the bass line kicks all is forgiven as your foot starts tapping along to the so-solid beat provided by drummer Will Brooks. This is the only instrument not played by DB, who proves he’s a master at building a hypnotic treadmill groove on guitar, bass and synth with the occasional tom tom trill to up the dopamine levels. DB also has a damn fine voice even if he does keep it from us for 2’34” before it comes in.

Dangerous says of the track, “On My Way is entirely open to interpretation. There is no hidden message, I just want everyone to enjoy the song and its infectious rhythm.”

The self-directed video, shot by DB and Owen Tuson, is equally compelling and super-vibrant as it features multiple Brians grooving away with a combination of hazy colour-separation and chemtrails. It’s a winning combination of song and visuals. This is Thin Lizzy does Chic whilst basking in a psychedelic sunny landscape.
