In this series, I explore the grassroots music scene, examining the key players, their roles, and the insights they can offer to Joyzine and its readers.
Every month, Whitstable comes alive with the buzz of synthesizers, modular rigs, drum machines, samplers, and experimental soundscapes at the Coastal Electronauts EMOM nights.
What is International Drone Day?
It’s a celebration of all things experimental—an evening of immersive visuals and cutting-edge electronic music. Sound, light, and atmosphere all come together to create a rich, sensory experience. You can expect layered textures, hypnotic visuals, and performances that really push the boundaries of what electronic music can be.
When and where will this be taking place?
Saturday 17th May 2025 at the Gulbenkian Theatre, Canterbury, as Whitstable’s Coastal Electronautsreturn for their third annual celebration of drone, community, and sonic exploration.

What can we expect?
An atmospheric night of live electronic music, immersive visuals. This year’s lineup features regulars from the Coastal Electronauts’ popular Whitstable EMOM nights, as well as special guests – headlined by none other than the phenomenal Look Mum No Computer

Visuals for the night will be brought to life by @diz_qo, with added layers of sonic texture through a communal drone session earlier in the day and late-night performances on the café stage to keep the drone energy flowing.
