Grassroots Uncovered – Five emerging acts for 2025

In this series, I explore the grassroots music scene, examining the key players, their roles, and the insights they can offer to Joyzine and its readers.

The Dublin Castle has long been a home for guitar-driven bands, but something very special is brewing. Lucida Records is turning heads with their all-electronic EMOM and Electroniq events—spotlighting a wave of fresh talent you’ll want to keep on your radar.

Rara Blue

Rara Blue is a London-based audiovisual electronic artist and producer whose work bridges the gap between reality and surrealism. She fuses synthetic soundscapes with organic textures from field recordings, creating a rich sonic duality. Her performances are largely improvised, featuring ethereal vocals while seamlessly blending elements of ambient, dance, and drum and bass.

A regular on the London EMOM scene, she has also performed at international festivals such as PFUP Audiovisual Music Festival (Hamburg), Crux Audiovisual Show, Vuurdoop Music Festival (Belgium), and Land Sound Music Festival (Estonia).

Valentina Reptile

Producer, musician and songwriter known for blending electronic beats with ethereal vocal landscapes and a mix of genres. A regular at Lucida events, her sound fuses dark-wave, influences reminiscent of Nero with the raw industrial edge of Nine Inch Nails.

With a background in the metal scene through her bands Fragments of Faith and Hieroglyph, as well as collaborations across various styles, Valentina now focuses on her solo material.

Nównøis

Nównøis is a London-based artist crafting moody, intimate music for those who find meaning in solitude. Her sound blends trip-hop, dark pop, and cinematic electronica—textural, raw, and deeply personal. She writes, produces, and designs every element of her work, weaving field recordings, layered synths, and haunting vocals into atmospheric, story-driven songs.

Formerly known as NAGYEDi, she has performed and collaborated with artists around the world. As Nównøis, she embraces full creative control while continuing to work with like-minded collaborators.

Palmer Eldritch

Another regular on the EMOM circuit, Palmer Eldritch recently brought his signature sound to Electroniq.  He crafts hypnotic, atmospheric jungle that blurs the line between reality and dream—deeply influenced by the soulful rhythms of LTJ Bukem and the lush vibes of London Elektricity. Each performance is a descent into fog-drenched soundscapes, where the roots of jungle intertwine with its future-facing evolution. Joined by VJ sorcerer Jack Hollywood and the sultry, emotive vocals of Anji, the trio creates breathtaking audiovisual journeys that captivate the senses.

Stalking Corpses

An unexpected fusion of raw poetry and relentless electronic noise.

The Only Emperor: a poet and English teacher with a voice so powerful it could register on the Richter scale. Gashnois: a producer, former sound engineering teacher, creator of the electronic sub-genre throbcore, and TTNS Radio’s own DJ Wafflemeister.

Their paths collided at an EMOM night at Dash the Henge in Camberwell, January 2025. Both performing solo sets, The Only Emperor and Gashnois were thrown together in an impromptu collaboration—a chaotic blend of thunderous verse and punishing beats. The result? A Frankensteinian sound experiment that somehow worked. The crowd loved it.

From that chaotic collision, Stalking Corpses was born.

With hardly no material available online, the only way to witness the Corspses? See them live!
