Multinational Barcelona-based post-punk four piece Cranc. (meaning ‘crab’ in Catalan) release their debut single ‘Something Don’t Feel Right’ this week and you can hear it first right here on Joyzine.
Comprised of frontman Darren Loucaides (formerly of Joyzine faves Time Cops), Catalan guitarist Guillem Bonet, Birmingham-born drummer Max Gayler and Mexican bassist Rodrigo Vázquez-Mellado, the band emerged from a “curso intensivo” of 12 rehearsals in a fortnight, rounded off by four days of recording within the studio of a local cultural centre where Guillem works, with the tracks that will make up their debut album.
We’re going to have to wait for the full LP, but today we bring you the first track to be shared from it. ‘Something Don’t Feel Right’ is a tightly wound coil of quiet-loud post-punk, with spoken word verses inspired by Darren’s work as a journalist covering “apocalyptic conspiratorial movements” and an explosive shouty chorus.
All my life I felt like something was wrong in this land,” she said.
But there ain’t no secret plot or dark forces
Trying to implant microchips in your bloodstream.
The rot… it’s inside us. It’s us.
Consider out appetite for the album whetted.
