The Joyzine Advent Calendar 2025 – 24 Days of Free Music Downloads: #20 – LOUD WOMEN ft. deux furieuses, I, Doris, ShyGodwin, HotWax, Twat Union + Retropxssy

Joy to the world! It’s the return of our favourite festive tradition, the Joyzine Advent Calendar, back for its 22nd consecutive edition, which as far as we’re aware makes it the longest running on the net.

As always, every track is completely free to download and we don’t require you to sign up for a mailing list (though you can if you want to) or hand over your personal data – it’s our way of saying thank you to everyone who’s visited the site during 2025 and to hopefully bring a few more listeners to some very deserving artists.

However, if you do enjoy the tracks we would love you to consider making a donation to our chosen cause, which this year is HOPE not hate, and their stirling work researching, campaigning, and supporting communities to build HOPE and oppose far-right extremism. You can make a donation here.

Drawing of an open mouth with the words 'LOUD WOMEN' written on the lips in light blue text

LOUD WOMEN have been putting more women on more stages and turning up the volume for a full decade now and celebrated this impressive milestone with a compilation album jam-packed with fantastic female and non-binary artists. They’ve also gone international with their annual LOUD WOMEN Fest in London joined by sister events in the US, Canada and Australia, as well as taking to the airwaves with the LOUD WOMEN Radio Show on Resonance FM.

Today they’ve provided us with six brilliant tracks – three from the aforementioned compilation and three live session tracks from their radio show.

We caught up with founder Cassie Fox for a festive q&a session:

Tell us a little bit about your tracks please

First of all there’s three tracks from the LOUD WOMEN 10th Anniversary compilation album, which is out now (on 12 inch orange and purple splattered vinyl no less!) Here’s the link to it on Bandcamp.

deux furieuses – Human Animals

Ros and Vas aka deux furieuses have been part of the LOUD WOMEN family for many years now, having played at many of our events, and they also were some of the 64 artists who took part in our Reclaim These Streets single back in 2021. The pair have just been on an exciting tour with Frank Turner’s Million Dead. This track is an exclusive as-yet-unreleased.

I, Doris – Superduperdoris

Doris, Doris, Doris and Doris are the LOUD WOMEN house band and have enjoyed an incredible 2025 riding the wave of LOUD WOMEN’s 10th anniversary world tour – playing/hanging out at our festivals this year in New York, Canada, London, Sydney and Melbourne! The Dorises are keeping their passports handy for 2026 too as even more international action is planned, with Berlin and Hamburg announced for February 2026. ‘Superduperdoris’ is as yet unreleased (mostly because the Dorisses have been too busy hopping around the world to sort it out) but anyone who’s seen their live show will know this is the ’theme tune’ that kicks off their set and includes that famous ‘pledge of Doris’

ShyGodwin – american circus

ShyGodwin from Philadelphia became our friends for life when they came over and played our 2024 festival in London – and we were delighted to host them a little closer to their home at our New York festival this year too! An awe-inspiring band to witness live, and the very loveliest of people too. This track we felt was a perfect opener to the compilation album in it’s no holds barred, blistering attack on the American issues that the whole world has their eyes on right now. We want to show solidarity and support all our community in USA, particularly our queer, POC and trans friends. There will be further LOUD WOMEN Fests in USA next year.

The two members of ShyGodwin stand on a black and white chequered floor surrounded by red curtains. They are wearing black dinner jackets, white untucked shirts and black bow ties. One member is standing on a piano stool and holds a disco ball in their left hand.

Then some live session recordings from the LOUD WOMEN Radio show – which we’ve been running for a year now on Resonance FM, every Tuesday from 6-7.30pm – hosted by either Cassie Fox or Piney Gir. Each week we have guests performing live in the studio and we play brand new music from the LOUD WOMEN scene – musicians are encouraged to by-pass the gatekeepers and send in their music direct to us for radio play – info here!

HotWax – She’s Got a Problem

Tallulah and Lola from HotWax were the first guests on the LOUD WOMEN Show and we were delighted to hosted them. They’ve played our events in London and the South Coast many times and we have been thrilled to watch them gather a growing fanbase and tear up huge stages around the world. They’re really lovely people and it was very special to get to record this live session with them.

Twat Union – Red Flag

Twat Union are one of the most fun new bands we’ve had the pleasure of hosting in the past couple of years, and they were a fabulous highlight of our London festival this year. It was brilliant to squeeze them all into the studio for a live session. They’ve just announced a substantial UK tour for next year so make sure to catch them.

Retropxssy – Headache

Retropxssy is another fave new artist – she came and played our 2024 London festival, and then joined us for our fabulous birthday party at The Lexington in October. Such fun to have her in the studio for this live session. She’s one to watch – check out her new video for her single Trees.

What have you been up to in 2025?

This year LOUD WOMEN has been on something of a world tour, with events in New York, Nova Scotia in Canada, Australia, and closer to home too in Bristol, Edinburgh, Canterbury, Manchester and of course lots in our home of London too.

And what are your plans for next year?

Next year we don’t seem to be slowing down at all, as all of those locations seem likely to have a return visit, plus we’re adding Berlin and Hamburg to the itinerary in February, and there’s some more locations still to announce.

What have been your musical highlights of the year from other bands/artists?

Our LOUD WOMEN Fests are always our highlights of the year, and it was wonderful to host bands like Twat Union and Loose Articles, Yacko and Eevie Echoes and the Locations in New York.

Christmas: The most wonderful time of the year or a big bag of humbug?

I think Christmas is wonderful – it’s all about love and I’m really looking forward to hunkering down with my lovely family (and cat) after a hectic year of travelling.
