Amsterdam based Altin Gün’s heady mix of Turkish folk and psychedelia on their recent LP Garip (a tribute to the legendary Turkish folk star Neşet Ertaş) led our very own Paul F Cook to declare it “a joyous tribute to Ertaş, their Anatolian roots, and the rich musical history of Türkiye,” and promised readers they were “in for a treat if you dive into their previous releases”. Intrepid Joyzine photographer Rupert Hitchcox took him at his word and was treated to a kaleidoscopic performance as Altin Gün were joined by afro-synth-funk five-piece Pigeon at a sold out Koko.
