I make no bones about how much love I have for Johnny Lynch, aka Pictish Trail. The man, the musician and hirsute mogul of Lost Map Records a label who bring so much excellent music into the world from artists such as Rozi Plan, Ed Dowie, Firestations, Blind Yeo, and Alexia Avina, to name a few.
But this is Johnny’s time to shine. We are about to hit peak-Pictish given that he has just released one of his finest albums, Life Slime (my review here), and has just embarked on an ambitious UK tour throughout May, July and August.
Solo this man is a tour de force (and a lovely tour de farce; country dancing with the audience and covering himself in a bucket of slime as two examples) but with a full band Pictish Trail could be the catalyst that brings about joy to the world and maybe tilt us all towards global peace (a writer can dream).
