TIGER! SHIT! TIGER! TIGER! Is a band name that does make you double take with its sheer audacity and all those exclamation marks. Their exploration of the twin constellations of reverb and distortion has kept me wanting more since I first heard the 2024 album Bloom.
‘Glue’ is the first release from their forthcoming album Dissolve Here and it builds from a naked drum pattern and guitar riff before it starts slowly layering fuzz on top of distortion on top of cavernous reverb and then just before the halfway point everything gets ramped up heading towards cymbal splashes and feedback that feels like a star going supernova.
It’s good to have TIGER! SHIT! TIGER! TIGER back in the cavernous hall of fame and if you subscribe to the term shoegaze then this is a band that, like the uber-distortion mavens The Jesus & Mary Chain before them, are spending more time staring at Doc Marten boots.
