Lucida Records have been running their all-electronic nights for a few years now, building a strong reputation as the go-to events for fans of alternative electronica. The Dublin Castle, a venue usually associated with guitar bands transforms into an audio-visual showcase for cutting edge electronic acts.
The July edition saw a true electronic innovator in the shape of Lia Mice headline the event, complete with her brilliantly madcap homemade electronic instrument built from a quilt. Experimental, inventive and exactly what Electroniq is all about.
Sophie Sirota, fresh from a performance at the Royal Albert Hall, almost brought an audience member to tears with a beautifully emotional set built around loops and a viola.
AshKat proved once again that she is a serious talent, delivering a theatrical, mesmerising performance that Kate Bush would have been proud of. Surely it won’t be long before a major label comes knocking.
Resident house act Leg Puppy 2.0, featuring the beautiful voice of Nównøis, did what Leg Puppy do best: confused, entertained and generally did Leg Puppy things. There was also a surprise improvised collaboration with AshKat on the anthemic ‘Selfie Stick – Narcissistic Prick’
Next Electroniq – Leg Puppy 10 (Tenth Anniversary show)
