Jason Moules, frontman of allusinlove / allusondrugs is set to release his debut LP, Fruit Machine, in the not too distant future, and to whet our collective appetites for the album he has unveiled its first single, ‘The Art of Pulling Pork’. An atmospheric grungey number, happy to go along at its own pace, and using vocal repetition to great effect before launching into a storming alt-rock chorus, it does the job of heightening our anticipation perfectly.
As with so many recent releases, Moules’ solo project began under lockdown, “I started writing new songs at the beginning of COVID,” he explains. “I could sit around all day doing nothing, but when forced not to leave the house. I realised how much I love travelling and playing music. It’s one of the most amazing things a person could possibly do with their lives.”
On the new track Moules tells us, “The song title ‘The Art of Pulling Pork’ came about after eating at an Italian burger restaurant on my birthday… the restaurant claimed to have crafted the art of pulled pork. Made me laugh. It’s not specific. Funny title, not specific. Most of my songs are about imagery. Close your eyes and think about what ever you want… burgers or something else.”
We’re delighted to bring you a first chance to hear ‘The Art of Pulled Pork’ on Joyzine today.
‘The Art of Pulling Pork’ is out today and will be followed by the debut LP Fruit Machine soon.
