Album Review: The Bobby Lees- Bellevue

Back in August, I reviewed The Bobby Lee’s four track ep ‘Hollywood Junkyard’ and promptly fell in love with this band. Bellevue is the full album coming out early October and does not disappoint.

From start to finish, Bellevue is like a punk circus movie soundtrack. There is a track entitled ‘Mystery Theme Song’ at the end of the album.  The attitude I loved from the EP is there in spades. I still completely adore the single ‘Hollywood Junkyard’ which really reminds me of The Runaways- Dead End Justice.

This album only mellows down slightly on tracks ‘Strange Days’ and ‘Little Table’, but don’t be fooled into thinking you will find any ballads here. The whole album is a full frontal punk assault, and even the slightly slower tracks still have that rock n roll coolness. The Bobby Lees have the seal of approval from acts such as Debbie Harry and Iggy Pop and it’s not hard to hear why.  I’m gutted I missed their UK live dates earlier this year, but hope to make up for it the next time the Woodstock based band visit these shores.

Bellevue is released on the 7th October through Ipecac Records. You can pre- order on Bandcamp
