Live Review: Bridget at Signature Brew, Haggerston 24/4/25

I’ve been repping Bridget on Joyzine for a while now — I reviewed her debut EP Damage Reversal back in February last year, questioned her on her musical inspirations, and she was one of my favourite live acts at Loud Women Fest too. Her music is brilliant — a great mix of grunge and punk with catchy lyrics to boot — but the fact she’s also an Essex girl like me gives her an extra soft spot in my heart.

Having loved her performance at Loud Women Fest, when I saw this headline gig in London advertised, I knew I had to go. Even better, there were two support acts — both of whom were brilliant.

First up was Comic Sans. Seeing as they self-describe as “a queer punk girl band looking for trouble and Guinness. We are loud, proud and have a signature dance routine,” it’s hardly surprising that I absolutely adored them. I loved the dance moves, which made me think of a blend between Siouxsie Sioux and Kate Bush. I loved the music too — a mix of punk, metal, and rock, and even a fun cover of I Kissed a Girl by Katy Perry, with the singer coming down from the stage and singing amongst the audience. It was pure chaotic joy, and I couldn’t help but dance along.

Next was Lilith AI, who continued the rock and roll spirit, thundering her way through a setlist full of sass, attitude, and more catchy punk tunes. A particularly memorable moment was when she encouraged the crowd to sing along to a chorus so long it was written on a large piece of paper — a member of the audience even held it up closer to the crowd so everyone could follow. It was one of those small but perfect moments of DIY gig magic.

Finally, it was time for Bridget. As if the rock and roll spirit of the evening hadn’t already been awesome enough, she came along and cranked it up to 11. She may only have a limited amount of material at the moment, but every song she has is an absolute belter, and she knows how to put on a fully immersive, electrifying show. She was constantly jumping into the audience, encouraging mosh pits, and generally bringing the kind of proper rockstar energy you usually only see from much more established artists at bigger venues.

As a friend of mine who was also at the gig said, you ought to grab any opportunity you can to see Bridget in these smaller venues now — because based on the energy in the room and the pure enthusiasm radiating from the crowd, it surely won’t be long before she’s packing out far bigger spaces.

Her set covered all the tracks from Damage Reversal, including my personal favourite Throw Me in the Pit — unsurprisingly the track that really got the moshpit going. Another highlight was The Drive with its insanely catchy chorus of “Where’s my money? Where’s my car?” which had the whole crowd yelling along. But honestly, it’s hard to pinpoint a single highlight when the entire set was packed with them. Newer songs like Hairspray and Cloud 94 also went down an absolute storm with the audience.

And how could I forget her stunning cover of Nirvana’s Where Did You Sleep Last Night? She absolutely smashed it, delivering a raw, emotional punch.

What a gig. What an experience. I can honestly say it was one of my favourite gigs of the year so far — and something tells me we will be hearing so much more from Bridget.
