We’ve got another day of double downloadable delights for your delectation on day eight of The Joyzine Advent Calendar with two splendid artists offering up their finest wares.
First up are Joey Herzfeld and His So Called Friends who released their debut album Joey Herzfeld & His So Called Friends Are Watching You earlier this year. Weaving strands of black humour, cabaret and the avant-garde and with a musical line-up that includes musical saw, toy piano and scrap metal, it’s a curious and darkly marvellous beast.
Today’s offering ‘Half Hanged Maggie Dickson’ is a case in point, telling as it does the unlikely story of a woman who survives her own execution to open a pub within site of the gallows. Download it here.
Irish singer-songwriter Kevin Nolan made his Advent Calendar debut last year and he’s back with another track from his excellent album Fredrick & The Golden Dawn.
In addition to his musical output, this year Kevin also collaborated with artist and poet Susanne Wawra to create a volume of poetry titled Schizo Poetry Fragments.
